my work EXPERIENCE

& projects

Over the past ten years, my architecture design has been focused on providing sustainable architecture solutions mostly for commercial and residential projects in Colombia. All of them were approached and developed following a sustainable thinking method , based on first understanding site climate conditions. Then interact and respond to it by applying passive design concepts or active design systems and energy efficiency principals, as design tools for architects, design teams and engineers to achieve certain level of efficiency in the projects final outcome.

My job has consisted on becoming a sustainable “right hand” advisor providing low cost and high impact solutions for architectural firms, architects and clients. Designing with a team of professionals and developing bespoke building optimisation systems such passive strategies and systems such as solar energy systems, solar water heating systems, solar heating systems and water management and treatment systems for many type of projects.

Most of the project’s clients and architects, have successfully implemented on their designs, passive sustainable strategies to allowed the building reduce the consumption of energy, water and gas from the grid. This by providing the building with natural climate solutions playing in favour with the designed architecture. In addition to this reduction, these projects will be able to decrease carbon footprint through out their life cycle use and more importantly bring down the monthly cost of public services without compromising indoor quality or comfort conditions.

Thanks to taking part on these projects, I have acquired knowledge on designing sustainable “low cost” strategies, experience leading design teams, perspective on how to collaborate with architects and engineers, as well as handling clients needs, managing contractors and suppliers.

All of these skills to deliver timely high quality results.

solar energy system residential design

Thanks to a solar PV system composed of 12 high efficiency (18) solar panels that feeds a set of 8 batteries installed on a parallel double output can provide enough electricity to power the entire interior and exterior lighting , double door fridge, 54 inch Tv system and all the electric sockets in the house. Achieved a 70% reduction of energy from the grid, compared to its similar neighbour houses.

solar water heating system residential design

Thanks to a set of 10 solar water panels system connected in a double sequence of 6 panels each, feeds a close loop solar heated water to the 2,000 litre insulated tank through out the day for this residential building providing hot water for all the 32 units. To reduce the energy loss in the pipe system of the building, a close loop was installed between the storage tank and the water supply point in every floor, meaning it reduces the distance hot water has to travel from the main tank to each supply washbasin, kitchen or shower.
